Catholic speaker and writer Christopher West wrote an article about sex and a VERY FAMOUS musician that was published this fall in the St. Louis Review. If you can fill in the blanks (same name in each) and be the first to submit the correct answer, you'll win a $5 gift certificate to Penn Station (that's a free sub sandwich!). "In a book-long interview with Michka Assayas, ____ reflects at length on his unconventional Christian convictions. And Assayas simply cannot understand how the world's biggest rock star could believe Jesus is the Son of God. Nor can he understand how _____ has remained faithful to his wife of twenty-five years." Email Paul - paul@reapteam.org - with the name of this musician for a chance to win!

News from our last giveaway!!! AND THE WINNERS ARE...
Winners from last contest were Melissa (from Atchison, KS), Shelli (from Warrensburg, MO) and Adam (from St. Louis, MO) Melissa and Shelli are now the proud wearers of a cool pink Steubenville shirt. Adam, on the other hand, opted for the awesome prize of REAP Team notepads, which is what Paul would have chosen as a prize, too! All three contestants knew that Jeff Suppan was the strong Catholic baseball Cardinal we quoted regarding his prayer life. Read the article about Suppan's faith. Since we lost Suppan for the Brewers this winter, read about two other strong Catholics on the Cardinal team.

If you have a random question about LOVE, SEX, or RELATIONSHIPS, please send it my way (heather@reapteam.org). You might see your question published in future editions of this nifty little newsletter.

Help! I'm a 26-year-old virgin
Dear Heather,
The truth is, now in my mid-twenties and it's getting more and more difficult to find reasons to keep my virginity. It's not something to be ashamed of, but society definitely makes you feel inadequate about it though! There's a lot of pressure out there. A lot.
Check out Heather's response, with a unique perspective and tips that will help this young man grow in confidence for living chastity.

Also, read Heather's answers to these intriguing questions:
How do I turn lust into love?

Paul's Column

Paul (paul@reapteam.org) is also available to answer your questions. Recently, Paul received a great question...

Talking to Dead People
Dear Paul,
A good friend recently died that I cared for dearly, in fact, he and I were dating. We were friends first and foremost. He was an amazing, respectful, caring guy and now he's gone. Can I contact him? I miss him so much! - Mourning

Check out Paul's response, the good, effective ways to communicate and the surprisingly dangerous ways of trying to contact the deceased.

How can I stop masturbating?
How do I find help to stay strong?

Catholic Writer and Speaker Christopher West comments on...
-Apocalypto - It's much more than just violence and history; it's a critique of our culture of death.
-Children of Men - Even Hollywood can see the destructive nature of sterilizing sex; we're moving toward a sterilized culture.

JOKE TIME…

DEEP THOUGHTS...(not necessarily inspirational)

THE TOP 15 BIBLICAL WAYS TO ACQUIRE A WIFE (original author unknown)

-Find an attractive prisoner of war, bring her home, shave her head, trim her nails, and give her new clothes. Then she's yours. (Deuteronomy 21:11-13)

-Find a man with seven daughters, and impress him by watering his flock. (Moses--Exodus 2:16-21)

-Go to a party and hide. When the women come out to dance, grab one and carry her off to be your wife. (Benjaminites--Judges 21:19-25)

-Have God create a wife for you while you sleep. Note: this will cost you. (Adam--Genesis 2:19-24)

-Agree to work seven years in exchange for a woman's hand in marriage. Get tricked into marrying the wrong woman. Then work another seven years for the woman you wanted to marry in the first place. That's right. Fourteen years of toil for a wife. (Jacob--Genesis 29:15-30)

-Cut 200 foreskins off of your future father-in-law's enemies and get his daughter for a wife. (David--1 Samuel 18:27)

-When you see someone you like, go home and tell your parents, "I have seen a ... woman; now get her for me." If your parents question your decision, simply say, "Get her for me. She's the one for me." (Samson--Judges 14:1-3)

Let us live Lent then, as a "Eucharistic" time in which, welcoming the love of Jesus, we learn to spread it around us with every word and deed. Contemplating "Him whom they have pierced" moves us in this way to open our hearts to others, recognizing the wounds inflicted upon the dignity of the human person; it moves us, in particular, to fight every form of contempt for life and human exploitation and to alleviate the tragedies of loneliness and abandonment of so many people.
- Pope Benedict XVI's Message for Lent 2007

Cool Websites...

XXXChurch reaches out to Women and Teens! Porn is not just a "guy thing" - 28% of all viewers are women. XXXChurch strives to free men, women and teens from the grip of porn. Fr. Larry Richards - If you happened to be at "STL Steubenville One" this past summer you may have listened to a very funny and optimistic priest by the name of Fr Larry Richards. For those who may have never heard of Fr Larry, well here's the scoop! Fr Larry is a very charismatic priest and preacher. His message is relevant to people of all ages. His presentations are enthusiastic and authentic to the teachings of the Catholic Church. His topics and materials will help to change a person's life and challenge them to live a more authentic way of life in Christ. That is why he started The Reason For Our Hope Foundation in answer to 1 Peter 3:15: "Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope." Check out Fr Larry's website today, The Reason for Our Hope!
