Paul's Recommends

Being a family guy (not The Family Guy), Paul has suggestions for teens, families and, of course, GUYS! He likes movies that are funny or where a lot of people die (that's real life, right?).

(Note: some movies in this list are R-rated, but I'm an adult. I would advise teens reading this list to never see an R-rated movie without parental permission!)

Recent Hits

  • The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (PG13): A wonderful screen adaptation of three of the best books ever written, and very powerful themes for people of faith.
  • The Passion of the Christ (R): Took me into the heart of Jesus' sufferings, and helped me to understand the heart and suffering of Mary as never before. Make sure your parents are cool with you seeing this one...
  • Mean Girls (PG13): Great insights into high school life, and helped me to understand girls better. What guy doesn't need that?

All-Time Personal Favorite Hits

  • Anything with Arnold Schwarzenegger, especially the Terminator series. What can I say, I'm a guy.
  • Saving Private Ryan (R): Brutal. Helped me to appreciate those who die for freedom
  • Shadowlands (PG): Insight into the love life of one of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis
  • Braveheart (R): Touches the heart of every man
  • Gladiator (R): Wow.
  • Amistad (R): So much about freedom and slavery.

Great Family Movies

  • Swiss Family Robinson (PG): Great action film
  • Secondhand Lions (PG): My boys, especially, loved it
  • Rookie of the Year (PG): Baseball, oh, yeah...
  • Remember the Titans (PG): A challenge to love one another

Most Anticipated Movie

  • The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe: One of my favorite stories of all time is coming to the big screen, and apparently they are using Weta Studios (the special effects studios for Lord of the Ring) for this movie. I'm hoping that all 7 of the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis will eventually be made into epic movies. And, for a cool site on Narnia and the latest on the movie production, check out this site.

Movies Worth Missing

  • Chick Flicks of Any Kind: What can I say, I'm a guy!
